Three fingers on my left hand are now fully cooked as it take me various attempts to get the range of a function . skilful thing I planned ahead and did n’t use my right hand or else I would have no fingers leave to shoot my photographic camera again . Mezcal Toast
I took this picture with a GoPro 3 + Silver Edition at my Aunt´s state house in San Luis Potosi , Mexico . We were just drink mezcal and my uncle thought I would be a ripe theme to ligh up the hearth , after that I was trance by the flame and I had to take a picture , I only had my gopro .

Torch
The photo of the torch was taken twice to allow for the background stars to be consider and then combined in post . It was a rather calm even and I set up one of my walk sticks with a strip of torn denim soaked with tiki blowlamp fuel . I place my tripod up to shoot from about ten inch off the earth and as I was about to take off shooting , the wind picked up driving the flame more across the camera ’s FOV rather than up and away . I snarl as tight as I could and end up catch just the ripe amount of spreadhead on what ended up being the first blastoff of about 15 . I then unite the flaming shot with a non - flame , 20 2d exposure take a minute or so earlier and made some modification in Lightroom and Photoshop .

Indoor Blues
I ’m wishing I could have done this outside . I like campfires / ardor pits , but recently its been reasonably bad weather condition out ( in case you had n’t noticed how bad everything is in the nor'-east ) . Anyways I tried out a few thing with matches , and flatboat before this but did n’t really like how they looked . This one is what I thought turn out pretty good . This was taken with a Nikon 5200 at 20 mm , f/3.5 , 1/6 second . and 100 iso .

Leaf Burning
I consider this shot in my backyard . About a yr back , I pick up a cheap Canon Rebel T3i and 75 - 300 mm crystalline lens kit . This afternoon we had a neighbour throw out some old Natalie Wood , so we grab it all and tested it out . I had the older boy scout friends over and we spend the rest of the Nox telling some scary ghost stories , cookery marshmallows and hot dog and drink some beers ( and hard cyder ) . Near the beginning of the fervor i was able to grab this exposure . The picture was flash at F/5 1/800 320 ISO at 79 mm .

Gotta Light
Shot inside a cold car in Chicago . It was tough make up one’s mind whether to have this meekness be in colouring material or in black and white . In color , the bokeh is a mix of red ’s and yellows and there is a warm Orange River glow from the wanton flaming . Your eyes are at once drawn to the coloring material and what ’s creating them , while in black and ashen these are nothing more than shapes in different shades . Stripped of colouring , the image practice the bokeh and sluttish flame in a way that helps create the “ scene ” rather being the scene .

Wood Burning Stove
I shot these sensational flames in an indoor Mrs. Henry Wood - burning range while endeavor to warm up up from the brutal common cold in western Maryland . Some composition board had just been added to the fire , which really invigorate it up for a few seconds . This photo is not post - work , aside from being cut back and resized . The beautiful colors , contrast , and line of business are straight from the detector .
I sprout this with a Sony A6000 auto - focused with a Sony genus Lens at 99 mm , f/5.6 , a 1/4000 sec shutter speed , and ISO 500 .

Smoky Cocktail
This shot enchant the preparation required to create a cocktail that incorporate woodchip bitter . The charred Grant Wood is also pressed against the lip of the glass to raise the smokiness of the beverage . The almost unperceivable depression of reprize drinking glass pressings on the wooden gameboard is picked up and emulate by the fire creating a very interesting consequence .

Marshmallow Roasting Fuel
Living in Southern California and the lack of plastered weather condition we ’ve had , I did n’t intend twice about a bonfire in my backyard . gratefully the rainwater held off till the next daytime and I was capable to enchant some flame exposure . This was my favorite because of the glowing spicy coal AKA perfect marshmallow roasting fuel . The flame themselves are effortlessly dance around the older log towards the back and eager to engage with the freshly added in the foreground .

Duck Oven
I ’m overseeing the build out of a new Thai Restaurant here in Singapore and this week see the first fire of our brand new Duck Oven . The submitted trope is of the smoke woods being pre - burned and although I have some nice images of blackguard duck’s egg in the oven and of Chef turning the log , the simple epitome of forest on the pre - burner hit the spot .
Nice coefficient of reflection in the stainless steel worktop plus the smoke mingle with the deep background silvern - grey blot wall roofing tile created some delicious color balance and texture .
Shot hand hold ( 100/2.8 ) on my trusty EOS - M with a Canon 40 mm 2.8 STM , this little animal is not one-half as regretful as folks seem to want to make out … . certainly well-off to heft around a fast impress kitchen than my wife ’s 1Ds3 !

A Smoke
Remembered this competition at the last minute so I did a substantial quick shoot on my computer desk as I was about to head out for a bullet for my first shooting challenge on Gizmodo . I used an old Samsonite tripod , a Nikon D3300 . F/4 , ISO400 , 1/30th preferences on a 35 mm choice genus Lens for this crack , and then added a vintage filter and vignette on it in Lightroom . Enjoy .

Cold Flame
I expected somebody to take a flick of a light match and/or a candle , and I require to do something that would n’t tolerate out , so I select to take my gas - powered stove as the topic , hoping it would be unique enough . I turned out the light and snap a few photos , and then edit them with Paint . Net to give them a form of ‘ cold ’ look . Taken with a Canon Rebel T1i and a Canon EF 50 mm 1.8 II .

“Do It Again, Please”
On a snowy and cold Saturday , I embark to my friend Jon ’s sign to capture him blowing fire . I found this challenge to be especially difficulty . I incur it very hard to get the white balance correct , the picture in focus and all while seek to have a tight enough shutter to avoid using a eminent ISO .
This is the best shot I got of the light . Notice the light snow coming down that is almost dancing forth from the firing . This moving-picture show was taken on a Canon 10D with a 50 mm prime lens of the eye f1.8 1/30 ISO 800 .

It was nice to warm up after wait so long for the sunset .
Very minimum redaction in post , increased phantasm to bring out some point there , and a lowly blow to vibrance and clarity . I also hike up the vividness of the blues in the top go forth to bring some direct contrast into the range . Finally I cropped the image to better frame the national .
