The author also had advice for mothers today. “If you want to be happy, you cannot do it all. It’s not because you can’thaveit all. But when you try to do everything all at once, nothing gets done right or enjoyably," she said.
Daphne has been honest about how being a mom isn’t always easy, but it’s worth it. “The crazy part about motherhood is no one can accurately describe the exquisite highs or the devastating lows to you. It’s so subjective and unique," she added. “I remember feeling like motherhood and the love that comes with it was some golden ticket into a secret club I never knew existed.”
She had a podcast

In 2020, Daphne launched a podcast about motherhood calledMom BrainswithHilaria Baldwin. “We would go out to dinner and share ourbest mothering advice, tips on everything, so we had this idea to start a podcast where we would create a village, create a group of mothers that we really loved and respected, and talk about deeper issues,” she told PEOPLE.
“Motherhood can be really lonely, so we want to provide a place where moms can commune together,” she continued.
The podcast featured interviews with celebrity moms like Sutton Foster, Laura Prepon and Haylie Duff. They covered topics like bipolar disorder in children, childhood development and how to talk to kids about racism.
Her family is passionate about food

Daphne’s passion for food started when she was a little kid.
“Yes, health was a priority. It was never an obsession. It had this wonderful underpinning of food as the medicine you choose every day,” she toldWomen’s Wear Dailyin 2022. “My father, both my grandfathers and my uncle are all surgeons so my mother and my grandmother have always been into complementary medicine and nutrition. We had this belief that food is this joyful, incredible celebratory place in our day. But it’s also this important way that you take care of yourself.”
Daphne also opened up about her weight struggle toMaisonette. “ I grew up the overweight child in the healthiest of families. Though I had to learn to curb my enthusiasm and lose the weight healthfully, I did so in a way that allowed me to keep my love of food — nothing off limits, no taboos."
She looks to her parents for inspiration

Daphne has the utmost respect for her parents. Shelooks up to themin all facets of life, from parenting to style.
“My dad was full of so much good advice. But I think the best kernel of wisdom came from his experience as a parent even more than a doctor. He reminded my husband, John, and I to take time to support each other and reconnect. Happy children are a product of happy parents,” she toldPopsugarin 2014.
Daphne admitted she calls her dad often with medical questions. “I don’t know what I would do without a doctor on call all the time because I’m so used to it. Both of my grandfathers are doctors, my dad, my uncle. So everything gets a call,” she toldParadein 2020.
The chef toldBeach Magazinethat her mom Lisa — a writer, actress, producer and author — is “the creative kernel for all of us.”
“My dad would not be where he is today without her,” she said. “She is the most in-tune person I know and she has been, and still is, with us all every step of the way.”
She’s passionate about fashion and beauty

Daphne says her love for fashion and beauty started from her mom. “I do a lot of makeup tutorials online and people always asks me where I fell in love with makeup,” she toldWomen’s Wear Daily. “I remember really early on sitting at her knee, watching her do her makeup. Putting on your face to feel that confidence, that glow and putting yourself forward as you want to see yourself — all of that I learned from her.”
She has a blog

Daphne’s eponymous blog features four major sections: Nourish, Style, Life and Pure Gold. The Nourish section features recipes like her grandmother’s egg-less caesar salad, watermelon jalapeño gazpacho and more.
The Style section features gift guides, hair accessories and other product recommendations. The Life section is chock full of motherly advice and the Pure Gold section is for everything else. The site highlights many images of Daphne at home cooking, getting ready and spending time with her family.
