Andor does so much , so well , in a style that itmakes itself feel unlikeany other slice of Star Wars while also being the Star Wars - iest thing around . Its euphony is just one high spot of that , and this weekthe show dedicate us a spellbinding metre that we ca n’t get out of our heads — and now , we do n’t have to .
That rhythm , the grimy ball club music that blares across the soundscape during the climax of this week ’s episode , “ declaration , ” is called “ Niamos ! ( Morlana Club Mix ) , ” named for the sunny beach planet Cassian whisks himself aside to in the wake of theheist on Aldhani . It ’s also , blessedly , in today ’s release of book 1 of the Andor soundtrack from Nicholas Britell , which otherwise include euphony from the first four episodes of the time of year .
It ’s all very dependable — Britell has carve a sound for Andor so far that feel Star Wars when it needs to be , but very dissimilar from the oeuvres of John Williams or the Star Wars streaming contemporaries likeLudwig GoranssonorNatalie Holt . “ Niamos ! ” is perhaps the acme of that idea . Usually , when Star Wars gives us nightspot music , it ’s a riff onthe smooth Jizzof Figrin D’an and the Modal Nodes — the same brassy , vaguely spacey faux - jazzthat we first heard back in A New Hope — because that ’s what we ’re civilize to expect of every cantina in the extragalactic nebula far , far off .

“ Niamos ! ” sounds nothing like that . It ’s a blue , almost tyrannous repetitive heartbeat that drills its way inside your head , both beseem the first moment it blares into Andor ’s soundscape when we arrive on the major planet the racecourse ’s named for , and then again when it run over the credits of “ Announcement ” give the horrific straits we leave alone Cassian in at its orgasm . It would n’t be out of place in our own world , but still feels distance enough to be a part of the man of Star Wars . In a way , it ’s meditative of Andor at large — this anchor , begrimed tone at the realities of its worldbuilding that roots arealistic , human viewof the Empire ’s raise that feel like a mirror to our current moment .
Also , it ’s just a good musical rhythm .
The first book of Andor ’s soundtrackis now streamingon Spotify , Apple Music , and Deezer .
