Brooke Shieldsis changing up her traditional plans for Thanksgiving this year.

Speaking with PEOPLE exclusively at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards in New York City on Tuesday, the actress, 58, shared that she and her family have a special trip planned to Europe for the holiday. Shields shares daughters Grier, 17, and Rowan, 20, with husbandChris Henchy.

“My daughter’s studying abroad, so we’re going to go and all meet her which is going to be fun and different,” Shields, an honoree of the award this year says. “Hopefully we’ll get some Turkey or something.”

During her acceptance speech for the award later in the evening, Shields shared some of the advice she likes to give her girls.

“Don’t give you away,” Shields says. “Don’t make yourself small to please other people, to make other people feel comfortable. Don’t let anyone else let anyone do that to you either because believe me they will keep trying.”

In August 2021, Rowanheaded off to collegeat Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

“Worst thing I’ve ever experienced in my life,“the actress saidonLive with Kelly and Ryanabout sending her older daughter to school.

The actress continued, “She’s really living her life, she’s enjoying college, she’s just really blossoming and growing. I listen to the way [my daughters] talk to each other and their friends and the things they’re discussing, and you think, ‘Wow, she’s really her own person and I’ve done my best in my job and I’m going to try to get out of her way.'”

“Anytime that I can spend with them, I beg to do it,” she previoulsy told PEOPLE.
