In totally awful newsworthiness , C.J. Cherryh — author of Foreigner , Downbelow Station ( pictured above ) , and lots of other amazing book — is being named a Grandmaster by the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America .
This honour will be bestowed upon Cherryh at the 51st annual SFWA Nebula Conference , May 12 - 15 in Chicago . Cherryh previously acquire the Campbell Award for Best New Writer , and also was guest of honour at the 1998 Worldcon .
In a handout , Cherryh was quoted as suppose :
I never expect this . I ’m honored to link up the ranks of so many illustrious writer . I have a band of leger left to publish , a mess of books I need to spell , level I want to tell . I thank my publishers , who keep me in photographic print — I give thanks my agent , as well . I give thanks everybody , deeply , who give me the prospect to do that . And I contrive to keep the books coming .
