China ’s top internet media governor ramp up its late social media crackdown over the weekend , erase 1.4 million post and inactivate around 67,000 accounts . The Cyberspace Administration of China ( CAC ) claims the sweeping actions were taken to combat a rise in misinformation and other harmful cognitive content , though human rights groups and experts have long pick apart the country ’s social media takedown as excessively spacious acts of political censorship .
