I ’m not colorblind , I ’m just " dark-green - sapless . " At least that ’s what I tell everyone . I drop a line about my coloring vision problems agency backin 2007 , explaining my Deuteranomaly , a condition affecting or so 5 out of every 100 men . There are other material body of colorblindness , but this one is mine . In short , it mean that thing that other the great unwashed see as green , I do n’t – I see them as brown , or beige , or some other achromatic tone . Over the weekend I bought a bunch of glass feeding bottle to put surd cyder in . I did not get it on they were green until I had bottled five gallons of the stuff and nonsense and take it to a friend ’s business firm .

This is the kind of minor daily embarrassment that a gullible - weak person takes in footstep . " Oh , this sweater is greenish ? I thought it was brownish . " " Oh , my house is greenish ? I see . How green are we utter ? " I ’ve gotten very used to it , and I should emphasize that I can see SOME green ( like a big green fir tree diagram ) – it ’s just that if you add together any subtlety to the mixing ( like tinting a bit of chicken feed ) , I ’m lost .

So I was shocked to see the newDanKamapp for Android and iPhone . For three bucks , I have an app that expend my telephone ’s camera and modify the color in realtime , giving me – for the first time – a glimpse of " what is light-green " around me . It basically takes things that are " fairly green " and makes them VERY GREEN in a way that I can see . ( It does the same for red , which in my case is helpful because the only shade of pinkish I can see is " shameful bubblegum pink . " ) The app is n’t perfect , and it choose some tweak to get it tuned to your especial want , butit whole works . The image at the top of this blog post is an example of DanKam viewing theIshihara trial run collection plate . As app author Dan Kaminsky says :

Not only does Kaminsky slip in aSimpsonsjoke , he ’s correct – I can only hardly make out the upper photographic plate number on the left hand ( and ca n’t read the humbled odd plateful at all ) , but I can easily take both plates on the right . This is a bragging mess .

Kaminsky says the applied science is still observational , but the reviews have been pouring in from around the world – foranomalous trichromats(most " colorblind " masses ) , this app does aid . In a in good order lit way , I can go for it up to my vacation sweater and finally see the red and greenish ! It ’s a minor miracle for those of us who have accepted that we ’ll lack colour imaginativeness forever . you may study more about DanKamat Dan Kaminsky ’s web site . It ’s currently useable for Android and iPhone gimmick ( and I assume it also work out on the fresh iPod pinch that has a camera ) .
