Logan Brill has been one of country music’s ones-to-watch since 2013 and now the Nashville-based singer is hoping to reach an even wider audience with her new single, “Walk of Shame.”
Listen to PEOPLE’s exclusive premiere of “Walk of Shame” below and read our full interview with Brill.
PEOPLE: What first got you into singing?LB: I’ve been singing for as long as I can remember. I grew up in a family of music lovers, and my dad always made my musical education a priority. He’d put on records and we would close our eyes and listen, studying lyrics, melodies, production. When I was 11 I started singing with my older brother’s blues band and fell in love with performing.
How would you describe your music? For me, it’s all about the songs. I want to be as authentic as I can while telling stories that people can connect to.
As a singer-songwriter, is there one aspect that you find the most challenging?Singing has always felt really natural to me, but songwriting can be challenging at times. Some days a song just spills out on the page and other days it each line feels like a battle. I’ve written songs I’ve loved on both of those types of days.
What does the song “Walk of Shame” mean to you?I’ve always been drawn to things that are raw and real, the imperfections that make us human, and being vulnerable about those things is important to me as an artist. I think sometimes women are made to feel ashamed of their sexuality, and in this song I wanted to say it’s okay to own it, and it’s okay to share the responsibility. It takes two.
Has anyone ever made you completely starstruck?I met Emmylou Harris one time and was totally starstruck. I was opening for Steve Earle at the time and didn’t know she was making a guest appearance with Steve that night. I almost ran into her opening the backstage door after I got done playing and she told me she had really enjoyed my set. I think I panicked, said thank you and ran off to my dressing room to keep myself from gushing over her and telling her how much of a fan I was.

Who would you love to collaborate with in the future?Bonnie Raitt. I’ve idolized her since I was a kid, so getting to sing with her would be a huge thrill.
Is there anything coming on the horizon for you?I’m continuing to tour and release new music. Last summer I put out two new singles, “Good Story” and “Giving Up,” which reached a wider audience than ever for me and I am hoping to keep growing that fanbase with every new song. I’m really proud of “Walk of Shame,” so I can’t wait for people to hear it.
