The more we take the oceans , the clearer it becomes that the solid ground got screwed in footing of the quality of our soft invertebrates . This gauze-like , scrimshawed angel is the ocean ’s version of the poke . It ’s vicious , but it ’s beautiful .
Sea angels are aqua - poke that have lived in the ocean long enough that the “ foot ” that lead along the bottom of most univalve has part and become the wings they utilize to flutter around the ocean . They ’re toughened to find , both because they ’re only two inch long and because they hold out in colder parts of the ocean .
There are a few different species of sea angel , but the one you see above isClione limacina . This one is a unrelenting hunter of tiny sea snails , and has a special proboscis for prying them out of their shells so it can eat them .

But , you know , it ’s pretty .
