The new remake of the 1951 classic The solar day The Earth Stood Still looks much darker and a lot more armageddon - esque with grand CGI chaos view and military chase sequence . It looks like Helen Benson ( Jennifer Connelly ) is a petty late with the phrase “ Gort , Klaatu barada nikto , ” as stadiums crumble and destruction ensues , most likely from silver bill - bot Gort . In director Scott Derrickson ’s ( Hellraiser : Inferno ) remake , shining space man Klaatu ( Keanu Reeves ) visits the Earth on a heartsease and good will missionary post . Too bad the trigger happy American military shoots him not once , but multiple times , following the motto “ fritter first , ask dubiousness later . ” The fresh movie shows Klaatu under interrogation in a secret millitary bunker , and perfumed Helen Benson gets signed on to his typeface . Lot ’s of classic moments are packed into this trailer . I ’m assuming that all of the lighter going out in the bounteous city are Klaatu ’s presentation of power ( which backfires tremendously ) . But we only see a abbreviated glance of Gort flashing across the projection screen .
Gort ’s want of screen time may be due to the fact that it ’s rumour that our preferred alien bodyguard is entirely CGI in the film . This stinks — it would have been much more exciting had they decide to form with animatronics , tool or the old honest valet de chambre - in - a - robot suit . What made Gort so scarey was that you could order there was a very scary thing behind his silver gray shades bumping around inside .
