The last Harry Potter movie only just came out a yr or so ago , so it ’s altogether you ’ve been waiting until all the films were out on videodisk before buying them in one go . And if you really , really want to be a Harry Potter completist , there ’s great news : Harry Potter : The Wizard ’s Collection is an absolutely insane 31 - disc set that will make indisputable everybody in your liveliness knows that you ’re completely ghost with The Boy Who Lived .
We received a loose revaluation copy of the Wizards Collection , which retail for around $ 500 ( or $ 350 on Amazon ) , and we ’re happy to describe that it ’s a really massive , impressive slice of shwag . If you have a little flat , you may be left wonder where to put it , because the actual boxful is ginormous . And you may really want to show it off . There are a ton of boxershorts and thing that pen up out and little compartment , and you could easily pour down a few hour just poking at the loge and looking at all the little things that you find , in gain to rewatching the eight Potter films .
In a nutshell , each film is available on Blu - ray and DVD , and then there ’s a bonus Blu - beam of light disc with one exercise set of peculiar features for each film — which is basically a “ make the World of Harry Potter ” documentary divide into eight component part . There ’s also one excess bonus disc , just for the boxful set , which let in a new featurette , “ The Harry Potters You Never Met , ” about the devising of the stunts in each of the picture .
The only ill I ’ve hear about all this is that these are n’t the extended versions of the films , except for the first one . on the face of it unfold cuts of films 2 - 8 have been send on television , but are n’t available on DVD or Blu - ray yet .
The purpose of the giant box is really clever and flowery — arrest out a fascinating television at entrust from the two graphic designers who create it , who had also work on design airscrew and label in the flick . There ’s a lot of clever little touch that go into the box set , and a lot of the individual bits of packaging are really neat . It almost reminds me of one of McSweeney ’s recent issues , except much gravid and even fancier .
So besides the disk , I ’m not sure if I ’ve found everything that ’s inside the box . Part of the fun is draw in it aside and digging through all the drawers and semi - hidden compartments .
There are a twosome of bantam drawers , containing severally a scroll ( for digital downloads of the picture ) and a nice Slytherin locket . There ’s also a lovely booklet show all the lashings of labels the designers created for various products in the Harry Potter universe — many of which are really gorgeous , and I only care those labels could be peeled off and stay put on thing . There ’s a big collection of artistry carte demonstrate Stuart Craig ’s concept sketches of locations in the Potterverse . There are a collection of gorgeous art prints show one significant instant from each film , a design for the Hogwarts grounds , and a material flag illustrating the Hogwarts grounds . All in all , it ’s a pretty ornate piece of business organization , and would make a really splendid present for someone you really , really like a set . And if you do n’t have all the Potter movies yet , or really want to have them in the most opulent possible packaging , then this is a great way to own them in a beautiful setting . you may seriously vote out a weekend looking at all the art and the featurettes , even without actually rewatching all the films .
