Jelly Rollisn’t sweating his Grammys loss.

AfterVictoria Monétwon over the country star in the best new artist category at the 2024 Grammy Awards on Sunday, he took toX (formerly Twitter)the following day to express admiration for the “On My Mama” singer’s music and career journey.

“Just so we are clear- Victoria Monèt deserved that award,” wrote Jelly Roll, 39. “She is incredible. She has been writing hits for everyone else for a long time, and she deserves every bit of this award.”

The “Need a Savior” musician, who’s experienced a massive rise to fame over the last couple years, knows this year wasn’t his only chance to win a Grammy. “We come back next year stronger [with] more nominations,” he added. “I’m inspired.”

Also nominated in for best new artist wereNoah Kahan,Ice Spice,Gracie Abrams,The War and Treaty, Fred again.. andCoco Jones. Upon accepting the award, Monét gave thanks to the champagne servers and voting members of the Recording Academy before getting emotional.

“This award was a 15-year pursuit. I moved to LA in 2009. And I like to liken myself to a plant who was planted and you can look at the music industry as soil and it can look to be looked at as dirty or can be looked at as a source of nutrients and water,” said Monét, 34. “And my roots have been growing underneath ground unseen for so long. And I feel like today I’m sprouting finally above ground.”

She got her start writing for stars likeAriana Grande,Kendrick Lamar,Kanye WestandFifth Harmony, and recalled waiting for the right moment to “pounce” in her acceptance speech.

“I correlated the music industry to the jungle,” Monét said. “The jungle is a jaguar’s environment, but it’s not always the first thing you see. I felt that way about being behind the scenes in music. It took a lot of time, but I was happy to do it.”
