Aposton the show’s Instagram page showcased photos of all seven looks. “ICYMI: @jennabhager had a whirlwind of a morning! During every commercial break, @chrisappleton1 transformed her hair into a new look. Which one was your fave?” the caption said, inviting fans to weigh in with their picks.

As Bush Hager appeared on-air in the first hairstyle — a long blowout with fringe — she joked, “Some of this is not my hair — spoiler alert. He put in … how many extensions did you put in?”
“Packs and packs,” Appleton replied. “I got this, easy. As soon as I met Jenna, I knew she was born for this. I’ve been wanting to get my hands on you for a long time.”
“It’s so easy to change it up, so I’m literally putting my money where my mouth is,” he continued of the look, which prompted him to nickname Bush Hager “Jenna Lopez.”
As it turned out, Bush Hager was not a fan of her new longer hair. “I like it — I don’t want to hurt Chris’ feelings, but I do feel a little like Barbie,” she explained.
“Barbie’s in!” argued Appleton. “You must have another 6 inches, at least.”
When co-hostHoda Kotbsuggested the look might be a little too “sensual” for her colleague, Bush Hager playfully snapped back, “I’m not a sensual person? I think [husband] Henry Hager would disagree!”
Kotb explained, “We know those girls, they always give off that vibe. You give off a friend, cool-girl vibe. Today, you’re giving off more of a va-va-voom.”

For the third look, Appleton created “the JLo,” a half-up, half-down style which, according to Bush Hager, involved a lot of painful pulling.
“You should have heard me during the commercial break. I was just screaming, ‘Ouch!’ " she explained.
“She was screaming like Haley when I brush her hair,” Kotb, 59, confirmed, referring to her 6-year-old daughter.

One look that earned raves from Kotb was the ’90s Pinup, an updo with face-framing pieces. “Sexy little pinup, effortless, got it up… little side part. Maybe a nice little red-carpet moment,” Appleton explained.
“That took literally 45 seconds,” Kotb said, amazed.

However, Bush Hager jokingly pointed out that the style came at a cost. “You pulled out the majority of my real hair, but it’s worth it,” she said.
Appleton’s final look for Bush Hager saw him chopping off quite a bit of her hair to create a chic lob. “Whoa, whoa, you cut a lot!” she exclaimed.
“It’s fresh! Out with the old, in with the new!” the stylist declared.
In a hilarious clip shared onX(formerly Twitter) after the show, Bush Hager could be seen striking a series of model-like poses as a large fan blew her long hair around.
“Work it, work it!” co-host Hoda Kotb jokingly called out.
“I’m scared one of the extensions is going to fly out!” Bush Hager exclaimed, prompting Appleton, 40, to run into the frame and assist.

This isn’t the first time Bush Hager has teamed up with Appleton. Back in April 2020, amid the global pandemic, the former first daughter sought out the hair master’s help. Due to social distancing, she had been unable to go to a salon andher roots were in desperate need of a touch-up.
While live on-air from her home, as her husband looked on, Bush Hager took matters in her own hands and covered up her roots with guidance from Appleton.
“First we’re going to look at the powder option,” the hairstylist said, as he gave her a crash course in how to blend the colors and apply the powder with a brush.
“I have my hair assistant, otherwise known as my husband, here to hold my hair back tight!” Bush Hager said as she got to work.
“Some people would wonder why you would do this, but I guess if you have an important Zoom meeting or maybe a family birthday or something or maybe just to make your husband feel uncomfortable on television,” she added.
