During its three days of surgical procedure after the landing , Philae made legion discoveries , including that the comet has no magnetic sphere , and also that its surface has a punishing crust cut through with dust and ice . It also study the chemical composition of the comet ’s gas and junk , discovering complex molecules that may have provided the key ingredients for biography on Earth .
Now , though , we must say farewell to Philae . And in two months , there will be another sad so long as the Rosetta mission ends .
